50 Years in Aizu
The SIGMA Aizu factory opened on November 2, 1973. Today, it remains the sole location where we produce every SIGMA lens, camera, and accessory. The factory and the people who work there are the cornerstone of our reputation, a testament to our growth, and the source of pride behind our “Made in Aizu, Japan” label. The Right Tools For Unique, Special Moments
Since our founding in 1961, SIGMA has exclusively produced photography and video-related products. We focus 100% of our effort on creating tools for these art forms. Regardless of who is behind the camera, we believe that any moment chosen to be photographed or filmed is special and carries unique significance. Being even a small part of these moments is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for us. It’s what drives us to innovate and explore.
We Take "Made in Aizu Japan" Seriously
From our sole manufacturing base in Aizu to our supply chain in the Tohoku region, all of our products are completely made in Japan. The close communication between each part of our production system enables an exceptional level of manufacturing technology and quality control, allowing us to provide products that surpass expectations.
Beyond Precision
We are committed to achieving utmost precision in our manufacturing, with deviations never exceeding more than 0.002 millimeters. This level of accuracy can’t be measured by even the most sensitive instruments and is among the best in our industry.
Tactile Perfection
Our quality control department ensures optimal performance and visual appearance of each of our products. But they also control for crucial qualities not easily quantified or seen, such as the smoothness of the zoom and scaling rings. Our evaluation standards are very strict, to the point where a product can be dismissed because something “doesn't quite feel right."
Individual MTF Measuring
Each individual lens that has been shipped since the introduction of SIGMA GLOBAL VISION in 2012 has been tested and quality controlled with SIGMA's MTF measuring device, the A1. We store precise measuring data for each individual lens in our Aizu facility.
Getting to see the sharpness across the entire frame put the quality of this lens on another level.
