- 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye
- Overview
-
Sigma’s 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye are a unique approach to creative photography. Images created by fisheyes are a circular, curved distorted view of reality. It allows photographers to shoot creative images by taking advantage of the acute perspectives that are invisible to the human eye. This Sigma fisheye produces a circular image with a 180º angle of view within a black surrounding frame. A minimum focusing distance of 5.3 inches and a magnification ratio of 1to 4.6 allows the photographer to have fun with placement of subjects extremely near to the camera with distorted backgrounds. For photographers looking for a creative venue this Sigma fisheye is a good choice.

Canon 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye bracketed manual focus at infinity and taped down AUTO
This is an equirectangular panoramic photo captured at Bear Foods Natural Market inside their Crêperie Café department in Chelan, Washington, USA. Not yet being a professional, I had to guess at answers for Shutter Speed and Aperture settings. I only use this Canon T4i EOS DSLR body for this Sigma 8mm fisheye lens and doing 360 fully-spherical panoramas. So I don't always remember what proper lingo goes with which settings I probably repeatedly use to the point of no longer thinking about it. I used a Nodal Ninja Ultimate R10 tripod head (the one that allows swivel to 4 perpendicular directions and is tilted back 7.5 degrees, if I recall correctly). To blend and stitch the 12 bracketed images into one equirectangular image, I used PTGui software. Then I color correct in Photoshop image adjustments such as Shadows/Highlights, Vibrance and filter Sharpen and Sharpen Edges. Then for adding my bottom patch logo output in a few output options, I used Pano2VR software. Hosting on the correct type of site allows the equirectangular image file to be warped into a cube, which because of the fisheye lens, appears to a sphere with the viewer's perspective from the center. What appears here to be a line across the bottom, would be warped into my WashingtonState360.com logo that becomes round in the output photo-sphere.
