The sd Quattro is a highly unique APS-H sensor mirrorless camera designed with the Foveon Quattro sensor. This sensor is renowned for its incredible image quality and color fidelity and produces imagery comparable to that of a 51MP DSLR with a Bayer-pattern sensor. Its new physical design touts a two mode autofocus system, utilizing phase detection and contrast detection for optimal performance while a dust & splash proof magnesium alloy body make this system rugged and ideal for harsh conditions. While in “Auto”, a new 2.3MP viewfinder will toggle between the eye piece when the photographer raises the camera to their face and then toggle to the LCD screen as the photographer lowers the camera. The Super Fine detail mode takes full advantage of the Foveon sensor, capturing 7 different exposure in one click for the ultimate dynamic range (image can be extracted individually). The Sigma sd Quattro is manufactured to use the Sigma Global Vision lenses, renowned for their super IQ and performance. sd Quattro Lens compatibility

I know, 5 stars for every category but it is not an across the board 5 star experience. This camera is not for everyone. It has issues. But if you can work around the issues, it is a pleasure to shoot with and the image quality is amazing. The best things about the camera: The resolution, the lenses, the many different ways of producing images (shooting modes, file formats, etc.) the build quality and ergonomics. The bad things about the camera: auto focus is slow, iso 100 is the only iso worth shooting, slow write times, the software is slow, clunky and crash prone when tethering & the color rendition is questionable at times. This camera takes work to produce the best results. I mainly shoot DNG which products 140mb files. Combine that with auto bracketing means you need lots of hard drive space on your computer to work with. I do however find that I get better color results shooting the .x3f & .x3i files, but the sigma software is very time consuming to use. Especially with the .x3i files. Those are usually around 450mb and take a very long time to process. But in the end, you have a very sharp and very large file from a relatively inexpensive camera. The sigma art lenses are top notch glass. I have the 35mm 1.4 (43mm) and the 24mm 1.4 (36mm) and am constantly amazed at the images they produce. The big bonus this camera has hidden is when you remove the filter in front of the sensor. It becomes an infrared camera! There are many different ways to expose and process these images. It will take time for you to find the process you prefer and lots of storage space, but the fact you can so easily convert to IR is so fun. However, it does make me nervous removing and replacing the filter in the field. It takes me back to the film days is some ways in regard to exposing the image properly and being stuck at iso 100. In my heart, I truly love this camera.

Have been waiting for a Sigma mirrorless with interchangeable lenses from the day I bought the SD9. After that I owned the SD10 and SD1 and always struggled with focusing without any focus assist functions.
SD Quattro H is the first to have a perfect manual focussing. Auto focus needs a firmware upgrade though.
The images are beautiful, although not as good as SD1 which had a true RGB three layer Foveon sensor.

Extreme image quality in terms of colour accuracy, tonal expression, 3D renderation and
For fine artist like me, I feel very warm deep inside my mind full hearty once
only find the passion when I am drawing and painting.
I adapt many lens to my Sigma Sd Quattro H (For exsample: Angenieux, Som Berthiot, Kinoptik, Leica...etc.).
Using Sigma Art lens are very convenient ( larger aperture and quick autofocus) and the
optical performance are very unique ( A lot improvement in all aspects).
