I don’t often use prime lenses, but Sigma’s 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | A piqued my curiosity and I took it into the studio for an editorial assignment. Wow!  With my subject constantly moving, I was hand holding this lens and moving along with her. Fast and sharp focusing ability for me is a must, and this lens came through for me each time.  I changed my studio lighting several times during the session from a low light to a very hot light and was very impressed with the level of sharpness I was able to get.  The amazing compression in this lens makes for a gorgeous portrait lens.

A difficult shot that the only way to capture it was to go manual focus. Having the viewfinder in adjust for my vision and the lens already tuned up perfect with the dock for my 5D IV, the results were stunning. This is also about 81% cropped from original image.

Even at higher ISO, this lens captures amazing detail, and perfect focus on her right eye (her right ;) ). Thank you Sigma for producing such quality for a price that no one else is even close. What detail in the area of focus, zoomed in, you can see the tree in the neighbors yard in her eye.

Sony E-mount 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | A 1/500th f/1.8 50

I did a shoot yesterday with the new Sony A7III body and I chose four lenses to take with me. That exactly half of them are made by Sigma makes me very happy. The 135mm f/1.8 ART and the 500mm f/4 Sport were the two. The 135mm f/1.8 ART gives me the ability to stay close to my lighting and subject but at the same time blast the background into oblivion. I like to get input from the kids I shoot in terms of where they want to shoot. it helps to be in places they like but it also means I lose control. When it gets busy, I whip out the 85GM and the 135ART, and things get real simple, real fast... Camera: (Sony A7III, AF-C, EyeAF)

Review by Mr Walt
Posted on 4/12/2017
The lens looks like fine Art.
I just received the 135 art.
Right out of the box the lens is spot on focus .No hunting just perfect.
I have learned something that I think will help folks who have issues with lens focusing.
It is very important to change your camera body (FOCUS) settings, when changing to manual focus on the lens.
#1. Change both the lens & the camera body's setting to manual focus. (if you don't do this the lens will manual focus, (however you must return the both settings back to auto! If you fail to do this this the lens will not auto focus. It will just search and search and will not focus up.
To salve the problem (turn the cameras power off) then remove the battery from the camera reinsert the battery and the lens and the camera will then work together again.
I hope this helps some folks that are having focus issues.
