The Sigma 100-400mm 5-6.3 DG HSM OS Contemporary is a state-of-the-art telephoto zoom that brings a new level of portability and quality to the super telephoto market. Touting Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer (OS), the Sigma 100-400mm 5-6.3 Contemporary is highly compact and lightweight compared to similar products on the market. A push/pull zooming function and a new Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) allow for a more responsive approach to photography while a 1:3.8 macro feature can be utilized from up close or from a further distance. Like each and every Global Vision Lens, the Sigma 100-400mm Contemporary is handcrafted at our single factory in Aizu, Japan and undergoes individual evaluation before leaving Sigma’s facility.

Review by oldnorwegian Posted on 3/25/2018 Flawless with a D3400: The lens precisely performs all of the focus functions the camera has settings for both alone and with a 1.4 converter. The same with the OS at all ranges--and this is tested by 78 year old shaky hands. And of course the pictures are beautiful. I recommend this lens without reservation.
Review by BozemanMark Posted on 11/12/2017 Great wildlife lens for travel: This lens is a great supplement to my 150-600 Contemporary. I will actually take this lens for travel. I love my 150-600 for road trips to Yellowstone, and have gotten some great shots with it, but it is really too big and heavy for many trips. The 100-400 works great with my Sony A6300/MC-11 setup, and produces nice sharp pictures. AF is fast and accurate. It also works well with the TC-1401 extender in AF-S and AF-C in Wide, Center, or Flexible spot modes. I have posted a couple test shots of Pup Pup, my lens test model.
Review by WETSU76 Posted on 9/18/2017 GREAT LENS: Rented this 100-400mm lens (F-Mount) for my Nikon DX bodies recently for a long weekend and was amazed by the results I was getting. I had previously rented the sigma 150-600mm (C) lens and found that to be a little too heavy, but this little beast was a joy to carry around all day. This lens is sharp, light and fast, but I do wish it had a tripod collar. That is the extent of the only "CON" I have for this lens...hopefully sigma adds that in the next incarnation of this unit.
Regardless I fell in love with this lens and ordered it to add my ever growing list of camera gear...
Review by cocopics Posted on 9/7/2017 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | C for Nikon: I bought this lens to take with me to Southern Africa this past July. We went on a Tour of South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The wildlife and birding was amazing and this lens was awesome capturing this wonderful journey. I did use a monopod with it. I wish it had a tripod collar but it work great with the camera body on the monopod. I wish there was a way to post some of my images to show what this lens can do. Thanks Sigma for this great lens.
Review by Mexberry Posted on 8/1/2017 Great travel zoom.: This lens is lite enough for me to use as a travel zoom and combined with a 1.4 adaptor will give enough reach to capture bird images. A versatile lens that captures good images. It works with both. Nikon FX and DX bodies. Too bad the padded storage bag is not included.
Review by Mike Posted on 7/21/2017 Excellent: I take mainly wildlife shots, usually 'birds-in-flight'(BIF'S) and have used many long zoom lenses. This lens is sharp, light and fast - exactly what i need for all day on my feet. The image quality is superb, its noise and chromatic aberrations are minor if at all. I can shoot wide-open and use the same lens for close-up insects and distant BIF's. At this price its a cracking buy!

The quality of the images is as good as expected, focusing was fast and the OS works well with my Nikon750. Disappointed that there is no foam padded storage case, hence only four stars for value. Can Sogma make the Captcha images easier to read?
