Rainy days are great for macro photography and I often visit gardens on conservatories when the weather forecast calls for just such conditions. Most of the time, they do not allow tripods, so I love using my twin flashes or a ring light so that I can hand hold. I was photographing inside the conservatory while it was raining heavily but quickly went outside to the water lily ponds as soon as the rains subsided. The extra reach of the 180mm really came in handy as I strained at the edge of the pond to compose this beautiful bloom in the middle of the pond. There were many other leaves around the lily that weren’t pretty so the extra length allowed me to compose tightly on the center without falling in!
